Neither one of these lift photos turned out all that well but rest assured Morgan fearlessly road the lift.

Dad and Morgan riding the Big lift--to the sunshine run!

1st Family Snowboard trip

Sat we took the boys snowboarding for the first time. Morgan had been begging to go. after going down the bunny hill once with Micah trying to teach him, He was impatient to learn technique and wanted to just automatically be cool and at the bottom said, "Dad, Can I just snowboard? I just wanna do my own thing and just snowboard."
So Dad of course said "OK, go for it!"
He had a great day nonetheless and so did Jacksen. I spent the day running alongside the "magic carpet"--( as they call the little conveyor belt that takes you to the top of the bunny hill) and meeting Jaks @ the top helping him get off and strap up his bindings and following him back down.
We all slept very well that night...a good time had by all.
( We forgot our fancy camera so these are pictures from my cell phone. They will have to do.)

Knots

Back in the blogging saddle again....

Sorry we have not blogged since Bama Bama. I will try to update all of you on our going onings.

First things first: the Knot story.
We have a lot of 550 cord in our possession and of course it finds its way into our little boys' play time. Yesterday, there was a piece of it tied to the ladder of their bunk beds (no doubt to help them surmount the tumultuous elevation of the top bunk) and our sweet little Jaks (as big brother has named him) while we were all getting ready for bedtime routine, asks Dad if he wants to see him tie a knot. "Sure," says Dad and we all watched as he gave of step by step instructions on how he ties knots, "you wrap it around and then wrap it around again and then wrap it around....(you get the picture.)" What resulted was a hilarious wrapping of 550 cord that may be able to be construed as a knot if you squint your eyes---a really quadruple knot. Seeing the boys' interest in knots Micah seized the opportunity to teach them some real knots.
"Want me to show you some knots?" Bright eyed boys replied with enthusiasm in the affirmative. "This is called a 'Boland'; you hold the snakes head wrap it around the tree...."
"Cool" They both gave their words of amazement and approval.
"Here's another rescue knot that I can't remember the name of. You wrap it around your palm 3 times then under then over...." Well Dad couldn't remember quite how it went and the knot wasn't working out. Then I showed my amazing repertoire of one knot: the slip-knot. Then Morgan not to be out of the loop, volunteered to show us His knot:
"You wrap it around your hand FIVE times, then you wrap it around your pinky, then you stick the end all the way through and there's your knot. "
Micah and I both while trying not to laugh hysterically, showed our admiration and I called it a "W.O.S" knot, meaning Wod of .....er...Stuff.
Jacksen wanting to impress as well, said, "I have another knot. You wrap it around your hand, then you wrap it around your toe, then this finger, and then it's a knot!"
Do not ask me how he did it but somewhere in all that wrapping around, he ended up with a bonified slip-knot!
We were very impressed. Who knew one could get a slip-knot from wrapping the rope around a daddy toe.
